Cu Chi tunnel which is a defensive
system under the ground in Phu My Hung village, Cu Chi district, is about 70km
to the northwest of Ho Chi Minh city.
This system was dug in Indochina war and Vietnam war with simple tools and bare
hands. It lasts nearly 200 km including clinic, bedroom, kitchen, office,
system of ventilation…Specially, it was used as a hiding spot to refuge and
defend by the Vietnamese soldiers. The tunnel is deep underground from 3 to 5
meters so it is enough for only one person to stoop. Additionally, it contains
3 floors and has many branches that connect together. Of course, with purpose
of covering, it is camouflaged very carefully. Nowadays, the visitors,
especially veterans usually chose this destination to experiencing the life
under the tunnel so that they can find the feeling like the past.
